Workshop Project #2: Rub Ons

I absolutely love rub ons! This month SU has them on SALE! So, to boost sales at my upcoming workshop I am featuring a project using rub ons for the sentiment. I am using the level three hostess set for this project, so I am limited as to the number of like sentiments available. My solution? Three different versions of the same card! By using the double sided DSP I have tripled my options and made a card that can be changed to whatever the stamper desires.

Here are my choices: (I have left off the sentiments as to not waste the precious rub ons! Just imagine Chocolate Chip sentiments on the bottom DSP)

This project was so easy! I literally used the same supplies for each card! I think it is really cool how you can flip the DSP for either Snowflakes or Stripes. And the stamp set included in the Level 3 pack has 4 different images which gives you more options! I could have also stuck with just one ink color, making it even more cost effective. I am really excited about this project!

Welcome Home Hero!

I have booked my first SU workshop since moving! I am very excited and honored to have this opportunity! My hostess has requested a "welcome home" card for her hubby. While no stranger to homecoming, I found myself stuck for an idea. I began browsing Splitcoast stampers and found these inspirations:






I really liked the star window on Laura's card. I wanted to add some hearts for emotional appeal. My creation:

Morning Everyone! Today is my birthday!!! It is looking to be a great day--although maybe a little rainy! So in celebration of "gift-giving" days I am posting a gift I have made for a friend's son for Christmas. This little boy's room is decorated in classic Mickey and I hope this will coordinate well! Any comments/critiques would be appreciated!

Back In The Saddle

WOW! It feels so good to be back to crafting! I have revisited some of my old haunts (SCS) and have decided to join the PTI recipe card swap. Here is my creation:I still want to put a googlie eye on the turtle. I think I got this recipe from my friend Jen...Here are the deets-

Paper: SU Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery & Whisper White
Ink: SU Certainly Celery & Palette Giverny green
Accessories: SU 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grossgrain& retired Beachfront ribbon; SU green beads (hand sewn!)
Other: Computer font for recipe

This recipe is really easy and delicious! Here is an alternate form:

Turtle Stix:

Pretzel rods
Caramels
Baker's chocolate or semi-sweet morsels
Chopped pecans

Melt caramels. Coat pretzels half way down with melted caramel. Let cool. Melt Chocolate and dip caramel side of pretzel stick in to coat. Roll in chopped pecans and let cool. YUM!

Four Hour Project

I am so glad to be back where I have a little time I can carve out to create. Today I straightened up my office. Of course, once I got it clean I had to mess it up again! I decided to start om teacher projects. I am totally casing the jumbo clothes pin from the Stampin' Up F/W Idea Book!

For some reason I really stink lately at taking pictures. They all turn out blurry! I think it's time for a new camera! LOL

I don't have the teacher set, so I used the elephant from that Valentine set that was out a while back...Paper is Summer Picnic, ribbon is Real Red 5/8" grossgrain...

So here is where my quick project turned into a FOUR hour fiasco! I had about an inch and a half of red ribbon left. I decided that instead of tossing it I was going to incorporate it into a really quick card. Well, four hours later I had a card---and didn't even use the ribbon! This must be why it takes me so long to get scrapbook pages done...

It's not a bad card per se, but I don't think it was worth four hours! Summer picnic is there again, plus die cut blossoms and striped grossgrain ribbon. I also beaded some sticky strip at the bottom and in the center of the flower. The charm letters have been colored in with a gel pen.

Sick Day, Crafty Day

Today my eldest daughter stayed home from school. Apparently she caught the same nasty bug that my middle daughter had over the weekend. Needless to say, most of my usual daily activities were put on hold. This lent me time to CRAFT!!! WOOHOOO!!

As some of you may know, I have not been very crafty at all since our big move to the Peach State. Today I believe my doldrums have dissipated! It's sort of a weak attempt, but I got THREE cards done today! I already mailed one, so I only have two pictures to post...

This is actually my second card that I made...It started with the ribbon, which I decided might make a cool checkerboard pattern if I lined it up side by side. Then I found some colors that would work-Pacific Point & Real Red. I did the pattern on the blue and decided to scallop the edge. That on white was too boring so I added a red mat. Still needed something, so I added the beaded staples to the side. After that it kinda got away from me! Next came a chipboard star...then the glitter....then a punch with some brads...I finally had to stop before it took on a life of it's own! Not my best work...I am sure we can give it to someone at their birthday....

This butterfly card was actually the first one I did. (Well, actually the second copy of the first card I did) My first design had a little more bling and some green ribbon as well. I was inspired to do this card from the cool butterfly stamp that my dear friend sent me. It is by Unity Stamps and I like it!

I totally envisioned a multi-colored insect with this stamp and used the baby wipe technique to make a background. As pretty as the background was, I felt the focal point needed more POP to it, so I stamped the image in black over a baby wipe streaked background. I used Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron and Baja Breeze on the baby wipe. I used Pacific Point card stock to really contrast against the lighter shades of the background. THANKS is stamped in Pacific Point and is one of the monogram alphabets from Papertrey Ink. I also used Stickles on the butterfly body to add just a hint of sparkle.

That was my crafty adventure for today! My new house has officially been "glitter-fied"! Boy that stuff gets everywhere!!!
